Block your Upcar calendar automatically when one of your cars is booked on Turo.
If you list the same car on Upcar and Turo, your Turo bookings can block those dates on Upcar automatically, so an Upcar guest can't book a car that is already out on Turo.
Turo emails you every time a guest books, changes or cancels a trip. You set up Gmail to pass those emails on to us. When one arrives, we find the matching car in your Upcar fleet and block those dates on its calendar. If the guest cancels, we unblock them again.
You keep hosting on both platforms exactly as you do now. Nothing changes in your Turo account, and you don't have to remember to block anything by hand.
Go to Host → Settings → Turo calendar sync and add the email address Turo sends your booking emails to. That page also shows the address you'll forward to, with a copy button.
We need this because the emails arrive from Turo, not from you, so the address they were sent to is how we know they're yours.
Copy the forwarding address shown on the Turo calendar sync settings page (it ends in @inbound.upcar.ai, and there's a copy button). In Gmail on a computer, open Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address and paste it in.
Gmail confirms every new forwarding address before it will use it. Because ours is a system address rather than a mailbox, that confirmation arrives on our side.
We pass it straight back to the Gmail account you set the forwarding up from, usually within a minute. Open it, confirm, and Gmail will accept the address. (That address has to be the one you added in step 1, which is how we know the confirmation is yours.)
Now open Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses → Create a new filter, put noreply@mail.turo.com in the From field, click Create filter, and tick Forward it to with our address.
Leave Gmail's own copy in your inbox, so you still receive every Turo email exactly as before.
After your next Turo booking, open that car's calendar on Upcar. The trip dates should be blocked within a few minutes. If they aren't, contact support and we'll look at why.
| Turo email | What happens on Upcar |
|---|---|
| A trip is booked | Those dates get blocked |
| A guest changes their trip | The block moves to the new dates |
| A trip is canceled | The block is removed |
| A guest asks to change a trip | Nothing, until they confirm it |
| A driver is added to a trip | Nothing |
| Returns, earnings, tips, messages | Nothing |
A Turo booking didn't block the car. The usual reasons are that the car isn't listed on Upcar, the forwarding address was never confirmed in Gmail, or Turo emails an address you haven't added in step 1 (which happens if you changed your Turo email). Send support the guest's first name and the trip dates and we can tell you which it was.
A canceled trip is still blocking the calendar. Remove the block by hand on the car's calendar and let support know.
Do you read the rest of my email? No. The filter in step 4 sends us only emails from Turo's booking address. We use the car, the dates and the reservation number, and we don't store the message itself.
Can I stop it? Yes, at any time. Delete the filter in Gmail and the forwarding stops immediately. Blocks already on your calendar stay until you remove them, and support can clear them for you.
